Intramural games at Mt. Holly Middle School are led by Donna Lewis and Butch Mallon, Athletic Director.  Gurley's Gators, Hedrick's Hotties, and Matzke's Mustangs lead the eighth grade intramural with each having ten points after the first round of competition. 
Gluteus Maximus Volleyball

During each game, teams receive  up to five points for participation (bonus point for total class participation), three points for sportsmanship, and one point for winning the game.

Each event is unique and fun as you can tell by the names!  Ask your child to describe the game and explain the rules.  Students are entering scores into a spreadsheet after each game is played.  Click for spreadsheet using Microsoft Works.

Bacon and Eggs Game

August 30, 2000
Students play Bacon and Eggs in the second of the series of games.  Gurley's Gators and Matzke's Mustangs drop back a point to tie for second place as Hedrick's Hotties blaze a path to the lead with 20 points.  
September 12, 2000
The Hotties and Gators battle to win Scooter Hockey.  During the last minute of play Gurley's Gators take the lead and win the game to tie for first place.   The Mustangs are running only one point behind.  GO SHARKS!

Shoot-A-Round Game

September 29, 2000
The Hotties and Mustangs dueled during the Shoot-A-Round game. The Mustangs trotted off with the most points and won the event.  This brings all the classes on the Sharks Team to a three-way tie with 38 points each.   The next event will be Volley Bat.
October 19, 2000
The Mustangs and Gators went face-to-face in a game of Volley Bat.  As in the last game with the Hotties, once again the Mustangs galloped away to win the game.  The Hotties won their game this week too so the Gators trail by one point.

Kick Ball Game

November 2, 2000
The Gators, Hotties, and Mustangs played other teams in this round of Kick Ball.    The Hotties and Gators felt victory with each leaving their game with ten points.  The Mustangs lost but left with nine points.
November 17, 2000
All three teams had exciting matches and won their games in Omni Ball.  The Mustangs and Gators both won their matches by twenty points due to their  alertness, speed, and awesome teamwork.  The Hotties won their game by one point with a return by Justin M. milliseconds before the buzzer signaled the end of the game.

Once again all three teams had exciting matches and won their games in Sideline Basketball.  Gurley's Gators were down by twelve points but kept  positive attitudes and were determined to do their best throughout the game so they ended up winning the game.   Pictured -  Mr. Mallon starting a  round of Sideline Basketball.
December 14, 2000
Students played hard during the game of Jail House to free all their team mates before the buzzer sounded in each of the three rounds.  The Gators(88) and Hotties(89) secured all ten of their points.  The Mustangs(87) lost the game but came home with nine points.  This ends the first semester of nine games with the Hotties in the leading position for the eighth grade.  The Sharks Team teachers are proud that all teams   secured either 9 or 10 points in each game which  indicates excellent sportsmanship and total participation in every game!

Hot Shot

January 11, 2001
All three teams enjoyed the action packed games of Hot Shot.  Students cheered their teammates as they attempted various basketball shots to gain points for their team.   The Hotties and Gators left their matches with ten points each and the Mustangs brought home nine points.  The Sharks Team teachers are proud that each of their teams have always received their participation and sportsmanship points! GO SHARKS!
January 25, 2001
It was an exciting week for the Sharks as they played Scooter Volleyball!  Every team topped 100 points for this season.  The Hotties and Gators walked away with ten points each after action packed games.  The Mustangs left with nine points after a close match.

The War is On!

February 8, 2001
The Hotties burned up the gym as the two top teams in the eighth grade competed in this round.  The Gators played hard but lost to fellow Sharks.  The Mustangs also lost their game of War.  All teams enjoyed this fast-paced event.
February 21, 2001
The Hotties lost their match which put a pause in their winning streak.  The Gators and Mustangs dueled in an awesome game of Omni Ball, 5-on-5.  The Mustangs trotted off with the extra point for winning.  Pictured is Mr. Gurley passing the ball to Caleb during a run of ten points for the Gators

Scooter Basketball

March 6, 2001
After an exciting game of Scooter Basketball between the Hotties and the Mustangs, the Mustangs trotted off with the victory and ten points.  Gurley's Gators also won their match in a close game which narrows the point spread on the Sharks Team.

What a year this has been for the Sharks. Each team has received no less than nine points out of ten in each of their games. The Hotties and Gators came away from their matches of 21 with perfect tens. The Mustangs trot behind this week with one point less. All students are excited about Cage Ball that will be played after Spring break. Each team is looking forward to passing the 150 point mark after the last game.

April 27, 2001
Out of the ten teams in competition, the Sharks Teams secure 10 points in this final game and had a strong ending in this 2000-2001 intramural year. After a heated final match of Cage Ball the Hotties won the points needed to secure first place. The Gators settled into second place one point behind the Hotties. The Mustangs placed fourth. The Sharks Team teachers are proud of their students. The teams scored either a 9 or a 10 during each game which demonstrates full participation and excellent sportsmanship.
