Each year, Americans generate millions of tons of trash in the form of wrappings, bottles, boxes, cans, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, phone books, diapers, and much, much more.  Over the years, we have gotten used to "throwing it away," so it is easy to understand why there is too much trash and not enough acceptable places to put it.
