This project, that has expanded from North Carolina to Australia, will begin year two in September 2002 - June 1, 2003. The project directors include representatives from the initial participating schools and school systems. Students will select notable people in their state, providence, or country to research and create web pages that will be added to this Internet-based database. Completed projects will be submitted to a project director who will add it to the website.
The web page will include:
picture(s) of the notable person (permission must be secured to used copyrighted information.)
basic demographic information
250 - 500 description of the contributions that were made by this person and why they are notable
student created illustration(s)
scanned or digital camera picture and/or related graphic (permission must be secured to used copyrighted information.)
two or more related Internet links
credits
name of student, teacher, school, and county

Tips:
Have students name their files using notable's name: example carlsandburg.htm (no spaces)
Use software to put all files in a zip file, attach to an e-mail, and submit to a project director.
Use web-friendly fonts - Arial is easiest to read.
