*Some highlights in my role as an educator include interacting with the students, using my various talents and interests, and being creative.  Each day is new and different.

*At Southern Middle School, we have two computer labs, a Mac in each classroom, and I-books.  We can also sign out the digital camera and video cam when needed. *I use these tools in various ways.  This year, my students grew gourds for a 2-year interdisciplinary unit.  One activity was to research gourds using the Internet.

*In this workshop, I wish to learn to create web pages.  I will use this information to make the education association aware of current events.

*As an educator, I have two goals for the future.  I am presently researching a masters in education and National Boards.

*This year I wrote my first grant.  Money was needed to fund the gourd program.  We received recognition and the money needed to promote the program for this year.  The students planted the seeds.  They became involved with the many aspects of plants.  Next year these same students will pick and prepare the gourds.  They will research their uses.  In art class, students will prepare the gourds for the Asian Festival.

*Some of my hobbies are reading, gardening, art, music, and movies.

* My favorite location is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.  As a child, my family and I always vacationed there.

*My plans for the summer include this workshop.  I also look forward to my family visiting in July and August.

* Next school year will be interesting.  I will be teaching Social Studies, in addition to Science.  I will also be involved in the Science Club and Computer Club.  I have become Southern Middle School's AR for ABAE.   I will create a web page to keep the members informed.
