MAST II, Mathematics
and Science Technology, took place during the weeks of June
11-15 and 18-22, 2001 in Greenlaw Hall's second floor computer
lab (room 221) on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill. MAST II includes
two follow-up sessions and a total
of 7.2 renewal credit hours in technology.
MAST II extends
the knowledge of teachers in grades 3-8 who have previously
received professional development in using classroom technologies
in mathematics and science education. The course strengthens
the technology knowledge of these teachers and helps them
apply technology to their instruction in restructured, workstation-based
classrooms. It provides teachers the opportunity and guidance
to design a full rotation of workstations and builds their
knowledge of current technologies, including use of the Internet,
web pages, probeware, video, and sound. The project also addresses
many of the practical problems teachers face in reforming
their instruction.
